The proceedings of the conference will be published in the ACM Digital Library as a volume in its International Conference Proceedings Series with ISBN.
During the conference, different scientific and technical activities will be conducted: paper presentations, posters, technical papers, and also tutorials and workshops. Opening and closing plenary speakers for both Conferences (Interaccion 2012 and MexIHC 2012) will be broadcasted by videoconference.
Submission Guidelines
The official languages of the conference will be Spanish and English.
All contributions will be reviewed by a “double-blind” paper evaluation method. Authors are kindly requested to send the paper without any reference to any of the authors. So, please, remove the authors personal details, the acknowledgements section and any reference that may disclose the authors identity. Papers not satisfying these conditions will be rejected without reviews.
Authors should submit an original paper in Spanish or English, carefully checked for correct grammar and spelling, using the on-line submission tool.
All contributions will be written following the ACM template. The first anonymous version must be submitted in PDF. (Pending approval of publication of proceedings in the ACM DL).
Types of submissions
The types of submissions are:
- Full papers (8 pages)
- Short papers (4 pages)
- Posters (2 pages)
- Doctoral Colloquium (2 pages)
- Experiences and case studies (2 pages)
- Tutorial proposals (2 pages)
- Workshop proposals (2 pages)
Full Papers
Full papers should describe original work that have not previously been published and provide significant results of scientific research. Presentation time for full papers will be 15 minutes plus 5 minutes for questions. These papers are assigned a 8-page limit in the conference proceedings.
Short Papers
Short papers should describe innovative work in progess, without significant results yet, that contibute to well-founded research. Presentation time for short papers will be 10 minutes plus 5 minutes for questions. These papers are assigned a 4-page limit in the conference proceedings.
Posters
Posters (and/or demonstrations) must present work in progress or consist of a demonstration of a technical tool. These papers are assigned a 2-page limit in the conference proceedings. These contributions will be exhibited as a poster during the conference. However, there will be a specific session where authors will present briefly (3 min maximum) their work.
Doctoral Colloquium
The Doctoral Colloquium is a forum in which Ph.D. students will discuss their work with each other and with experts in their area. Students will present and discuss their thesis and will receive feedback to help them with their research plans. These papers are assigned a 2-page limit in the conference proceedings and first author must be a PhD Student. PhD students will give a short presentation (10 minutes) about their work. After each presentation, group discussion will take place.
Experiences and case studies
The experiences and case studies are technical papers to present real applications and projects related to HCI outside the scientific field. Authors from industry or public administration will present in this session their work, which may be of interest to the HCI community, due to results and/or methods and techniques used. These papers are assigned a 2-page limit in the conference proceedings. Presentation time for technical papers will be 10 minutes plus 5 minutes for questions.
Tutorial proposals
Anyone interested in organizing a tutorial can send a tutorial proposal (2-pages maximum) to the Program Committee including a description of objectives, profile of audience, duration, table of contents, outcomes and curriculum of speaker(s).
Workshop proposal
Anyone interested in organizing a workshop, parallel to the conference, can send a workshop proposal to the Program Committee including title, brief description, topics of interest, workshop objectives, the expected audience, anticipated outcomes, Organizing Committee and Program Committee and the names and short CVs of workshop proposers. Workshop leaders will have the possibility of submitting 2-page paper for review and inclusion in the conference proceedings.
Publications
All papers accepted for the conference will be published in the conference proceedings under ISBN, on CD-ROM support, as long as the camera-ready submission, registration and copyright document have been received. The conference procedings will be submitted for indexation by Thomson Reuters Conference Proceedings Citation Index (ISI), INSPEC, DBLP and EI (Elsevier Index). The Conference Proceedings of each conference (Interaction 2012 and MexIHC 2012) will be delivered in the other conference.
Accepted full and short papers written in English will be published entirely in the ACM Digital Library. Those accepted papers written in Spanish will have to submit a 2-pages extended abstract in English to be published in the ACM Digital Library.
A selection of best papers from both Interaccion 2012 and MexIHC 2012 will be proposed to be submitted as an extended version for a special issue of an international journal indexed by ISI Thomson’s Journal Citation Report (JCR). to be specified later.
Another selection of best papers from both Interaccion 2012 and MexIHC 2012 will be proposed to be submitted as an extended version for a research book of Best Papers of the 1st Joint Conference Interaccion-MexIHC 2012 to be published by Springer.
